I’m one of the billions of people who use multiple modes of communication. I have been using other modes for over a decade, if not longer. I was a member of Myspace, and I am now a member of Facebook, Twitter, and obviously Weebly; even the internet alone could count as a form of communication. When I really think about it, everything in today’s society could be a mode of communication. I believe that all of these communication forms have impacted my worldview and “writing” in positive and negative ways. Due to these memberships and all of the multiple modes of communication, I have gotten to meet people and read about so many different things. For example, when following famous people on twitter, you realize that they’re not that much different than a person who isn’t famous. They have real problems just like the rest of us. I think this realization brings everyone into perspective and opens everyone’s eyes. However, because we have multiple modes of communication it doesn’t allow us to get the “physical communication” that we need. Instead, we talk online, through a text message, and other devices. This could be one impact that really hurts our society in the long run. One positive about these multiple modes of communications is that we get to see all kinds of different writers with just a click of the computer’s mouse. We can gain so much knowledge from seeing other writers’ work. However, some of the writing that we may see isn’t always correct. There is a lot of slang used on the internet and other communication devices, and this could negatively affect us; especially young children.
